 Converge: Girl on Girl Exhibition

Kindred Spirits, Sophie Evans, 2025.
61cm x 76cm, Acrylic on Canvas.

Artist Statement:
For this exhibition, I'm particularly focused on sapphic love between women and queer individuals. Sapphic love, to me, encompasses more than just romantic attraction; it's a profound expression of deep affection, community, and friendship that serves as a powerful source of inspiration in our lives. In fact, the love I experience through my own friendships is one of life's greatest joys – a love that transcends traditional boundaries and is all-encompassing. In this piece, I've had the pleasure of capturing this connection between two dear friends, Chloe (she/they) and Kat (they/them), who are kindred spirits. Through their portrait, I aim to convey the love and joy they share with each other, and how that energy radiates outward, enriching the lives of those around them. I hope that everyone can relate to this through their own friendships and loved ones.

Creepy Crawlies Exhibition

A Tale of Two Realms, Sophie Evans, 2025.

Artist Statement:
“A Tale of Two Realms” is a series of paintings that explores the intricate interplay between beauty and disgust as represented by these creatures. Drawing inspiration from the Souls series (a video game franchise created by FromSoftware) each of these uncanny beings possesses a unique origin intertwined with the game’s lore. For instance, the breathtakingly beautiful Moonlight Butterfly, said to have emerged from human remains, contrasts sharply with the haunting Quelaag, who steals humanity to heal her dying sister. Together, they reflect the complex relationship between beauty and repulsion inherent in the human experience.

The characters and narratives within these games highlight the multifaceted nature of existence, illustrating how embracing darkness can pave the way for inner strength and understanding. Ultimately, they suggest that accepting both the light and dark aspects of life is essential to the human condition.

Whispers of Youth Exhibition

Whispers of Youth Exhibition curated by me, featured 27 talented artists exhibiting work that celebrates the joys of growing up in the 1990s and early 2000s.

For this exhibition I created my piece about the Ultimate Blues Eyes Dragon from the tv show Yu-Gi-Oh. I have particularly fond memories of this as my older brother, and I watched the show religiously and use to play the card game all the time.

Gods and Monsters Exhibition

The Gods and Monsters exhibition curated by Rowan (@swanprincex), is to celebrate queer artists during Pride month. The works will be up for the month of June at Working Title Brew Co.

My piece Ethereal Bloom is an imaginative fairy god enjoying the blooms of spring in her realm.

Lost In the Catacombs Event

This is my re-creation of Vicar Amelia, a boss from the video game Bloodborne.

Below is the prayer she recites as she mutates from human into beast.

“Let us partake in communion and feast upon the old blood.
Our thirst for blood satiates us, soothes our fears.
Seek the old blood.
But beware the frailty of men. Their wills are weak, minds young.
The foul beasts will dangle nectar and lure the meek into the depths

Remain wary of the frailty of men…”
